Our strategic process to sell your business in CA
Sell your business at the highest price and in less time
We distinguish ourselves by selling businesses in a strategic and proven manner that reaches qualified buyers
Successfully selling a business takes years of experience. The foundation of our approach is comprehensive preparation and planning. We work closely with owners of privately held companies, analyzing their goals and objectives before implementing a customized process for finding the right buyer for the business.
Our firm supports M&A transactions ranging from $500,000 – $30,000,000.
Our Process
1. Confidential Consultation
During the initial consultation, we will discuss your goals, offer advice and go over the process of selling your business. After an initial consultation, we schedule a follow-up meeting to review your business financials, operations, and growth trends.
2. Preparation & Planning
This phase focuses on preparing your business for sale. We believe that advanced preparation is the key to success: making your business more attractive to potential buyers and allowing you to get the best price for your business.
3. Business Valuation
Based on the hard facts we’ve gathered in the first stage, we determine a likely sales price for your company.
We provide four methods for business valuations:
- For small businesses with annual sales under $300,000 and companies where similar businesses are available for comparison, we offer Business Broker Opinion Valuation. It is based on comparable businesses and provides a faster approach to valuation.
- Value Analysis Valuation applies to businesses with annual sales between $300,000 and $1,000,000.
- Formal Valuation is prepared by a certified business appraisal firm. This report provides trends, ratios, and a common size analysis that is appropriate for companies with revenue between $1,000,000 and $3,000,000.
- Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Valuation. It is a customized valuation. Business appraiser fees vary according to the type and purpose of the appraisal.
The exclusive listing agreement is signed that confirms the price and specific terms of the sale.
4. Market the Business
Once we’ve established the price and overall sales strategy, we will prepare a comprehensive marketing plan and begin promoting your business. We will list your business on various business-for-sale websites, leverage our vast network of contacts and utilize the latest technology to introduce your company to qualified strategic buyers and business brokers.
5. Meet the Buyer
A non-disclosure agreement must be signed by all interested buyers. We expose your business to a wide range of buyers to generate competitive bids. Potential buyers will be screened before they are presented to you. We only work with buyers who meet the appropriate financial requirements to make the offer. We will work with you to schedule meetings with potential buyers (this may include evenings and weekends).
5. Due diligence
Due diligence involves verifying and validating that all legal and financial information of the business is accurate. Due diligence varies according to the size of the transaction and the background of the buyer.
6. Review Offers & Negotiations
During this phase of the process, our goal is to produce the best possible offer for your business. We will assist you in evaluating each offer with our expertise on current market trends, financing matters, and business law.
Negotiating effectively is critical to securing the best deal terms and maximizing value. During negotiations, we will keep your interests at the forefront. With years of valuable negotiation experience and negotiation training, our team is able to help you get the best price possible for your business.
7. Closing
We will work closely with your CPA, landlord, attorney, and all relevant third parties to ensure a smooth transaction closing.
Our process helps you to:
- Exit business with confidence
- Faster identify qualified buyers
- Save time
- Get the best possible price for the business
- Receive attention and support through the process of selling you business
